The news is being dominated recently by the countdown to the Olympic Games, now with less than 100 days to go, the great sporting events are on the horizon. With limited tickets and the demand to watch the Olympics in their home nation, Britons are improving their experience through technology. Rapid advancements are increasing the amount of cheap TVs available too, giving a great experience to everyone.

Broadcasting of the London 2012 Olympics will be the most comprehensive to

The Olympic stadium in London.

date. Although Beijing 2008 boasted the first Olympic Games to be broadcast fully in HD (High Definition), very few people viewed it in HD at home. Increased usage of HD televisions and cheaper HD services such as Sky and Virgin media allow more and more people to make the most out of their technology.

As HD was relatively new technology in 2008 not accessed by the masses, 3D Television is still relatively new now. 3D movies have had a resurgence in popularity and 3D TVs are taking of too, costing not much more than comparative non 3D sets.

Customers of Sky and Virgin Media will be able to view great coverage from Eurosport 3D and the BBC. Around 8 hours a day of live 3D footage will be broadcast, along with 4 hours of highlights every day. Of course, the opening and closing ceremonies will also be broadcast in 3D, creating a great televisual experience for all viewers.

3D televisions will add extra depth to the Olympic coverage.

Interactive options on new TVs and other media will also increase the connectivity between people at home and the exciting events of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Internet TVs, Smart phones and viewing online are giving everyone the options so they can view how, and when, they like. Upgraded functions of “Red Button” services on normal televisions and connectivity through internet TVs will allow everyone to view and record events in record numbers.

Aleks Habdank, director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media has stated “With a full range of live channels in HD and the first Olympics in 3D, Virgin Media TV customers are going to be spoilt with an unbeatable experience for watching the 2012 London Olympics. This year’s unprecedented breadth of viewing options will allow fans of any Olympic sport to watch their favourite events live and on demand, and with BBC and Eurosport 3D, viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the Games as never seen before.”

The band T-shirt is a tradition that has a long history of promotion and revenue generation for the industry. Some good artwork, branding or a logo can mean a huge merchandising opportunity for a popular band. These band help to promote the band by focusing on the target demographic very directly; a fan is likely to have friends that are into a similar type of music and would also be likely to go to concerts of a similar genre where a lot of people would get the opportunity to see the promotional T shirts.

tIt can be difficult to say whether the popularity or the branding came first, but huge bands usually have a great brand identity. The Ramones for example were a band that designed a uniform look in the same way that The Beatles did and this along with a logo and a personal style is part of what has made them so popular. Even a large group of people who have not heard much of their music will still wear a Ramones t-shirt because the image is known to be very cool.

Merchandise works in a very similar way to promotional gifts or free products that companies distribute to promote their business. The important difference is that the identity and image of a popular band is so strong that they will not give away items for free to promote their music, but have instead convinced their fans that they should pay a premium just for the opportunity.

From a young age, to an old one there is a genre of music that you can enjoy.

For some, this is orchestral music associated with classical music. This is a musical ensembles with many different instruments ranging from string, bass, woodwind to percussion sections.

Though it is a form that evolved and changed over the years leading to the twentieth century, it has remained much the same since this time meaning the orchestras of today are very similar to the ones our (great) grandparents might have visited a hundred years ago.

The distinction can be made between a symphony/philharmonic orchestra and a chamber orchestra, with the latter being a smaller size ensemble that consists of fifty musicians or less. A symphony/philharmonic orchestra (the two names don’t denote any difference and are usually used to distinguish between orchestras in similar areas) can include around a hundred musicians.

When we think of music we usually think of popstars and wailing guitars, but there is a whole world out there that includes classical and orchestral music, and it is likely to remain in practice for years to come.
